I am at a loss. A few months ago, I installed RedHat 9 on a Dell PowerEdge, added Apache and a host of other libs, and experienced a performance decrease with HTTP.
So, I reinstalled with RedHat 7.3, omitted the additional libraries, but ran Redhat's up2date and HTTP performance was as expected. This configuration has been in existence for quite some time.
Recently I have noticed that HTTP performance is again slow. Notes performance works well.
The default kernel was 2.4.20-24.7smp, but I have tried the following kernels too (this is a single processor server):
2.4.20-24.7
2.4.18-3smp
2.4.18-3
Further, the server is 99% available on processor and memory.
Can anyone make any suggestions or recommendations why HTTP would poke along? I have seen R5 servers flash past this server...
